TRESHNISH COTTAGES: SHEILING, SHIAN, DUILL AND THE STUDIO
All 4 Treshnish cottages (Studio, Sheiling, Shian and Duill) changeover on Fridays.   Guests will be invited to arrive after 5pm on the Friday afternoon at the beginning of their holiday and must depart on the Friday morning at the end of their holiday by 10am. The Haunn cottages changeover day is on Saturdays.

An exciting project is taking place during next winter - we are converting the heating and hot water of the 4 Treshnish cottages, the farmhouse, the office and laundry from oil and electricity to woodfuel by installing a 85kw woodchip boiler.  For this reason, we will have to close the 4 Treshnish Cottages from the beginning of November 2008 until the end of February 2009.  The Haunn Cottages will be available throughout that time.

Sheiling

Sheiling, (auld Scots for 'sheltering place') has been recently re-converted into a cottage, providing very comfortable accommodation for 2 persons. It has maple floors throughout, and a gas lit 'stove' supplementing the electric heating. There is no t.v reception.

shieling Situated on the edge of the traditional stone farm buildings, it looks out over a corner of the owners' garden to the sea with Coll and Rum in the distance.

The accommodation comprises of an entrance porch, leading into the open plan main room with kitchen area. Granite worktops, ceramic hob cooker, dishwasher and fridge/freezer make this a very well equipped kitchen! The sitting area has comfortable seating by the stove, an antique dresser with c.d player, selection of c.ds and books, and views out to sea.

Shieling The bedroom with double bed and en-suite bathroom (shower, w.c., and basin) are reached from the living room.

There is a small gravel patio and grassy lawn with garden furniture.

THE STUDIO
SLEEPS 4+2
ASSISTED DISABLED ACCESS
This property is a conversion of the Dairy and a Byre, situated on the west corner of the farm square, designed by an architect specialising in conservation and restoration. We have tried to preserve the external appearance of the Studio as a traditional farm steading whilst creating an unusual but spacious interior. Each room has high coombed ceilings, which give an airy feel. Large square Veluxes in the sitting room and main bedroom create lots of passive solar gain when the sun is shining! The Studio has full oil-fired central heating, and is decorated with a mixture of antique and modern furniture and paintings.
A entrance hall (with adjoining shower-room, w.c., basin and separate utility room) opens into the spacious sitting room. The large sittingroom has one view to the north, across the farmyard and owners garden to the sea and Calgary Point. Glazed doors on the hall and entrance give a westerly view, and the Veluxes in the high coombed ceiling give southerly light. It is furnished with comfortable sofas, armchairs and an antique dresser. Two single boxbeds in the west wall provide an alternative to a sofa bed (for the +2). An antique dresser houses the CD player, selection of CDs., books and games. There is also a tv/video with selection of videos. The floor is red pine with rugs.
The main bedroom is accessed from the sitting room and has a 7' square bed. Its window is a large Velux in the coombed ceiling which floods the room with light. It has a red pine floor with rugs.
A spiral staircase leads from the kitchen up to a sleeping gallery with a tiny rooflight in the coombed ceiling looking out to the Point and the sea. This has a double bed.   The bathroom is next door to the kitchen and has bath, w.c and basin. It has a maple floor.
The kitchen/dining room has a view out to the Point and the sea from the small sunroom. It catches the best sunsets all year round. The kitchen itself is well equipped with a gas stove (electric fan oven), fridge freezer, microwave, food processor, dishwasher, dining table and chairs. A separate cupboard houses a washing machine (and there is a tumble drier in the communal Laundry). There is a clothes airer in the utility room.
